Ministry Leadership Team Minutes

August 10, 2009, 7:00 PM

 

Members Present: Gerry & Rose Baer, Jonathan Bowman, Dan Burkhart, Gina Burkhart, Julia Fisher, Bruce Martin, Lynn Roth, Randall Shull

1.          Opening

Bruce and Heike Martin’s term as Ministers of Community Life is coming to completion. This was Bruce’s last meeting. Randall read Philippians 1.3-11, and Team members expressed thanks and appreciation for Bruce and Heike personally and in their role.

 

2.         Approving Minutes

            Minutes from the June 22, 2009 meeting were approved as written.

 

3.         Reporting:

Lead Pastor—Randall Shull

  1. Two sermon series are planned for this Fall
    1. Male and Female God created them: Series on Human Sexuality
    2. I pledge allegiance to…? Exploring the challenges and opportunities of being a follower of Jesus in the USA
      1. A structured engagement of these sermon topics will be planned, for both series.

 

Missional Life—Dan Burkhart

  1. Seline Perrone will continue to plan the bi-monthly community meal.
  2. Donna Weatherbie is discontinuing as the LOVE INC contact person. Dan is looking for a new contact person.
  3. The Good News Club has invited our congregation to adopt a Hempfield School District school and host two 7-week sessions. Dan will pursue this opportunity to see if there in interest in the congregation.

 

Christian Education—Gerry & Rose Baer

  1. Dot Smith will be the new Superintendent.
  2. Teachers are still needed for Sunday school classes.

 

Stewardship—Lynn Roth

  1. Financial concerns continue to be monitored closely. Lynn is taking this to Congregational Leadership Board on Monday. A finance committee will be formed to address the finance issues.

 

4.         Agenda

a.         Health and Wholeness—Judy Yoder & Larry Newswanger   

  1. Health and Wholeness will be ending in August. Judy gave a list of actions taken, education given and congregational resources used by Health & Wholeness. The caring ministry of the congregation will be restructured; a task force will look at how this ministry continues. Team expressed appreciation for those who have given their time and gifts in service with the Health and Wholeness ministry.

 

5.         Closing

            Jonathan closed in prayer.
